PWA

We've just got back from a lovely trip to Sal. The weather was amazing, the beaches were as stunning as always and the people still as friendly as ever.

The PWA took place and the conditions were, once again, amazing. Josh Angulo came out on top again but sailing his beloved Ponta Preta to near perfection.

We'll get some pictures uploaded soon so watch this space...!

Well it's been a pretty quiet summer and there haven't been that many waves or any wind to speak of so we've been keeping a low profile... but we're back now and getting ready for what looks to be a cracking winter season.    So if you're in the process of trying to work out where to go for some winter sun and fun, we strongly recommend you check out Sal...

There is still wind and plenty of waves here on Sal despite it being the end of the windy season. Santa Maria is pretty empty at the moment but the sun's still shining so if you're in need of a last minute break, now's the time to book up! Hope to see you soon.

What an incredible couple of days it's been!  The PWA competition has been completed in nearly two days in epic conditions putting Sal firmly on the map for windsurfing.  Serious waves hit Ponta Preta on Friday morning producing world class conditions and some spectacular arials.  By the end of the day the singular eliminitaion was finished culminating in a four man final: Nik Baker (4th), Kevin Pritchard (3rd), Josh Angulo (2nd) and Kauli Seadi (1st).  Standout arials and wave selection from Pritchard and Angulo but Seadi excelled with almost double the number of bottom turns and exceptionally sensitive critical wave riding.

Saturday started with the same 30 knot winds but a more Westerly swell and waves running all the way down to the point.  Angulo stood out all day backdooring wide sections and launching his trademark arials.  Polakow looked to be struggling on small boards and Pritchard failed to produce the goods against Angulo leaving the final to Angulo and Seadi.  Seadi struggled with too small a sail and got closed out by a mast and a half set.  One beautiful ride wasn't enough, but favourite from the previous day, Seadi had one more chance against Angulo.

In the final final Seadi had two awesome waves, producing arials and one massive floater.  Angulo's formulaic arials continued unabated however, and he looked unstoppable as Seadi, once again, got caught inside breaking his mast.

The competition ended with a very close split in scores and opinions (four judges vs three) and Angulo became the champion of the first leg of the PWA World Championships 2007.  Cape Verde is one very happy nation tonight!!!

We will post pictures tomorrow that speak for themselves!!

This weekend saw amazing conditions at Ponta Preta.  Strong winds and 15ft waves and lots of pros out and about getting to know the break.  Couldn´t have been better for spectating.

Kevin Pritchard (USA-3), Kauli Seadi (BRA - 253), Josh Angulo (CV-1), Robby Swift (K-89) Levi Siver (USA - 0) have all been out practicing alongside local boys Djo Silva (CV-11), Mitu Monteiro (CV-0) and Tiktik Lopes (CV-111).

We´ve got some fantastic shots of some of them which we´ll update later on.

Wow!  Ponta Preta was at its best last week.  A couple of days of absolutely perfect wind and waves.  The sets were up to about 20ft on a couple of days.  Fantastic to watch from the shoreline but not so great for those who were unlucky enough to smash up their kit on the rocks.

There´s a buzz around town at the moment as pros turn up to start practicing for the PWA competition in a couple of weeks.  Can´t wait!

Happy New Year.....

Now fully recovered from the fun that is Christmas and New Year and the lack of any internet connection to Sal we are ready to hit 2007 running.

A recent trip to Sao Vicente and Santo Antao was breathtaking, awe inspiring and generally wonderful and relaxing with a few 6 hour hikes up to a volcano crater thrown in for good measure.

The weather`s still amazing and hot here and the wind and water conditions are perfect for the beginner windsurfer or kitesurfer.  We hear there`s some big swell on the way soon though so hope to see Ponta Preta at it`s nastiest !!!
